MILK gallery

Visual identity for art gallery
3 min read

Overview

MILK Gallery, a unique intersection of creativity and artistry, was born from the passion of a group of like-minded individuals at the Vizualitas Studio, a creative graphic design agency. Fueled by a shared love for art, we embarked on a journey to create a space that not only showcases exceptional artistic expressions but becomes a holistic art project in itself, with it’s milky white walls serving as our canvas.

Project duration

February 2020 – March 2020

My role

Graphic designer

Embracing the role of a graphic designer, I undertook the exhilarating task of crafting the visual identity. I immersed myself in creating key visual elements that serve as the heartbeat of MILK’s aesthetic language.

The subject

MILK Gallery aims to provide opportunity for both young and elder artists as well to introduce themselves. The gallery can accommodate small-format and small amount of artistic works. The purpose of the gallery is to present artists of different styles and generations to the audience and to one another, thereby creating both a physical and mental platform that serves as a bridge, facilitating organic and real relationships among creators.

The approach

Being an in-house project at the creative studio I was working at the time, we had a lot of freedom  and fun while discussing on where we wanted to head with the visual message. It can be very instructive when there is basically no starting point and no outside feedback, it has its positive effects, but also can be a decelerating factor. So rather than frustrating ourselves with negative thoughts, like this is a super rare opportunity, where we can show what we think is the benchmark of a great branding identity, instead we just went with the flow, focusing on the pleasure of our jobs and what we felt is honest, yet strong and confident.

The logo, a symbolic embodiment of our gallery’s spirit, emerged as a visual anchor, while the meticulously designed lettering encapsulates the dynamic energy within. The logo, a symbolic embodiment of our gallery’s spirit, emerged as a visual anchor, while the meticulously designed lettering encapsulates the dynamic energy within.

Beyond that, I immersed myself in creating key visual elements that serve as the heartbeat of MILK’s aesthetic language. From the grandeur of posters to the intimacy of flyers, every piece in our branding arsenal is a deliberate stroke contributing to the larger narrative. Wayfinding visuals guide visitors through an immersive experience, seamlessly connecting spaces within MILK Gallery.

Completing the visual identity for MILK Gallery has been an enriching journey, through this project I learned that a successful visual identity is not just seen; it’s felt, experienced, and remembered. Beyond the tangible outcome lies a realization that design is not merely about aesthetics; it’s a bridge between the tangible and the abstract; between the physical space and the ideology behind its purpose.

That’s it!
